Hello!

Don't forget, for all those who leave a comment for each designer this month, there is the chance to win a big bundle of mixed media supplies! Don't worry, comments are open until the end of the month, so you have time to go back and comment on any you have missed out so far!

Today's blog post (that's me!) can be found HERE

November Challenge: Our Creative Corner

Hello!
It's time for another challenge over at Our Creative Corner! I'll hand you over to this months hostess with the mostest....... Lys!

November - Topsy Turvy! - Lys
We often try to do the 'right' way, use the suitable thing, organize our creations following definite lines or intentions… and sometimes it doesn’t go the way we wanted to. Sometimes it goes to the bin, sometimes we discover something new… and we love it!
On the right side or topsy turvy… Is there a right side in art?

So let’s play!:  whatever it is: upside down,  inverted, reversed or escaping from the right order…. Please show me one “topsy turvy” creation, and how it came to life in your hands!

This month, our sponsor is:

The Prize is a Decoart Media Sampler Kit and Andy will include a few of his stencils too!

colours may differ on the actual prize

My contribution took the theme rather literally....I sketched out a topsy turvy whimsy girl!

I'd love to see how you all interpret the theme, so why not join in with the challenge over on the OCC blog!
Have a great day,
Trish xxx

Our Creative Corner October Challenge!

Hello!
First of the month... so time for another challenge over at Our Creative Corner!

As it is an October challenge, the theme is a little spooky!

Forget cute cats and smiling pumpkins....

we want....

For this Halloween share with us some horror inspired
creations that are sure to send shivers down our spines.

Bring out your most grotesque stamps and embellishments....
....or perhaps take on the challenge of finding a way to transform
pretty stamps into something macabre.
Reach for the grungiest colours and textures....
Come over to the dark side of Halloween

Can you scare us?
The fabulous sponsor this month is Nicecrane Designs

And the prize is a very generous $20 voucher to spend in store!

I now need to apologise to Laura for not really following her theme!
I just don't do macabre horror projects, but I have used a zombie... does he count?!

I created a painty background on an MDF plaque...

Then did a little stamping and splattering with UTEE crystals..

My zombie is a Dilly Beans digi stamp (#337 Martins Heart) I printed him off onto regular printer paper, then gave him a wash of clear gesso. This meant I could colour him with watersoluble pencils without any issues!

I typed some words with my vintage typewriter, then added them to the background. A little outlining and smudgy pencil to finish off!

So.... not really horror... but a cute zombie is always good!
Don't forget to hop on over to the OCC blog where I'm sure you'll see some REAL Halloween Horror from my talented teamies!

Serenity....

Hello!
When things get hectic...... take a couple of hours off, and get covered in paint and ink. DEFINITELY the way to de-stress, I find!
My messy play time this week led to the creation of an Art Doll (I know, go to your happy place when you just want to relax, eh?!). She became my DT piece for A Sprinkle Of Imagination this week.
Here is a little peek...

You can see all of her if you pop on over to the ASOI blog HERE!

Dream

Hello, sadly neglected blog readers......

I seem to have been rather busy... so apologies for the lack of art shared here!

Today I am sharing a project over at the Calico Craft Parts blog... I just ADORE the printers trays used as shadow box frames... and the word? The word is from the Create Your own range... yep, you can ask them to make ANY WORD YOU WANT! Anything at all! in 5 different fonts and 5 different sizes! How cool is that! I chose 'dream' because I wasn't feeling that adventurous..... I have a list of weird and wonderful words all ready to order though!

Have a great day,

A Memorial Blog Hop for Lily

Today we are remembering Lily Chilvers a truly beautiful artist and soul taken from us too soon.
To honour Lily we are sharing projects we have made in her memory using the wonderful, whimsical and wacky art she shared with us all.

Blog Hop List

Leigh Snaith-Brunton
Laura Holland

My project is this colourful panel...

I created layers of detail on the background using paint, stencilling, printing, splattering, stamping and a little bit of washi tape...

As it is quite a thick panel, I could create my favourire black and white striped edging..

The amazing octopode figure was printed off, then covered in clear gesso. As I like to colour with wet media, the clear grsso gives the paper a nice protective layer! I used acrylic inks and watercolour pencils to add the colour.

The quote I used feels very apt today.

Lily was such a fabulous, talented artist. She will be missed throughout the whole of the crafting community.

WOW! and VLVS!

Hello!
All this week there is a fabulous collaboration happening between two great companies....

It is my turn today over on the WOW! blog, I'm sharing a framed home decor piece using both WOW! powders and Viva Las Vegas Stamps.... You'll need to go over to the WOW! blog HERE to see the whole thing, but I can share a little of the process here too....

I created a painty background, then stamped some wonderful VLVS images in black ink...

I used white embossing powder to emboss the writing circle design, and more white (and black) powder to create splatters...

I cut a word from black card as my final touch, then embossed it with black powder to give it a fab shine!

Hope you like it!
Don't forget to hop on over to the VLVS blog HERE to see more inspiration!
This event last all week, so check the WOW! and VLVS blogs to see all the other wonderful creations by the rest of the DT!

What Makes You Smile?

Hello!
So, what makes you smile? That's the theme for the June challenge over at Our Creative Corner!
Jan is our host, and this is what she has to say:

 What makes you smile

Close your eyes for a few minutes, relax and think about something that makes you smile..............
It could be a special person, a favourite place, a quote, an incident, the list is endless!
Your June challenge is to create something that will make us smile, it could be a scrapbook or journal page, a canvas, a tag, whatever your imagination dictates.

Our sponsor this month is Tando Creative!

Tando Creative are offering a selection of products for the winner of this months challenge, a prize well worth winning!
What makes me smile?
Creating painty backgrounds and drawing quirky figures!

I thought I would share just how my figure came into being. First, she was sketched out onto watercolour paper, and cut out. Yes, poor girl looks weird as she has no hair yet!

Sketch out the shape of the dress onto text paper...

Cut it out...

Make sure it fits!

Do the same for the wings..

Glue the text in place...

I then painted the dress...

And then added stamping for extra detail...

Her face was then painted..

And the whole  thing stuck to the background..

Now the hair can be sketched in...

and painted...

I added extra details to the hair with a fine liner pen..

My background is a typical 'Trish' painty, stencilly and stamped affair..

I added a heart and some words...

As a finishing touch I edged the whole figure, with a smudgy black pencil.
I hope you like her!

Don't forget, the 'What Makes You Smile' challenge can be found over on the Our Creative Corner blog now!

Love Trish xxx
