The Bunny Girl...

it's a glorious day here in Blackpool, and I've managed to fit in some playtime just for me!
Usually I'm a bit skeptical about SAD disorder and how it affects people, but seriously, the sun is shining, it's warm on your face as you walk outside, and I have more energy than I have had for weeks! There really is something in it after all, it would seem!
Anyway, on to my creation....
Spring colours, nice and painty-messy, and a fabulously random and quirky figure!
The background is a smeared paint/stencilled/printed/stamped affair..
A selection of washi tape to keep my girl from floating in space...
And some random words typed out on my vintage typewriter! Top Tip.... to get the old paper look to your freshly typed words, go through your old book pages and keep the new chapter/end of old chapter pages safe. The words tend to start or stop halfway down these pages, so you have a blank bit of old book page going spare. Use this bit to type on! Hey presto, brand new words but with the vintage look!

Anyway.... the focal point of the panel is my figure, a gloriously quirky girly from The Octopode Factory. I have coloured her with a mixture of Polychromo pencils, and some watercolour pencils too.
I hope you like her, I just adore that bewildered expression!
I'm linking up with two challenges today...
The Simon Monday Challenge (the theme is hope this counts! She thinks she is a bunny, so who am I to argue?!)
and the new Mixed Media World challenge. This looks great, a fab new challenge blog for all of us mixed media addicts!
I'm off to sunbathe......!!

A Sprinkle Of Imagination: Challenge!

Did you know that there are challenges over at A Sprinkle Of Imagination? We have just started our first challenge of the year with our new DT, and it's a good one!
All our challenges have the same theme....a very broad  'Anything Goes'. The only catch is that we ask you use something in your project that can be found in the shop over at ASOI. You DON'T have to have bought it from there, as long as the shop stocks it, then you're good to go! My advice would be to have a little browse, see what Vicki stocks, then have a look at your stash and see if there is a match. I'm sure there will be...inks, paints, stamps, mediums, you name it, the shop sells it!
Anyway...enough blethering on for want to see a project! My contribution is this Art Doll:
I cut a shape from card, then gave it a painty background with a bluey purple colour scheme..
Loads of stencilling, printing, and a bit of white UTEE splattering too!
I gave my doll some wire arms...
She is holding a magic wand type thing...a punched out star on a cocktail stick!
Her wings are Stampotique...
As is her face...
I added a cut out crown, a bit of doodling and some red accents to add detail....
She can stand proudly due to wheels? Whatever, she can stand because I glued on some large Prima Bottle Caps!

(You can't see them, but there are more caps glued on to the other side, this makes the whole thing more stable)

I hope you like her...why not head over to the blog and link up your project? The winner, chosen by the DT, will get a £10 voucher to spend in the shop! All details can be found HERE.

Products used that can be found in the ASOI shop;
Dina Wakely paint
Stampotique stamps
Prima bottle caps
white UTEE

Have a good day!

Craft Stamper Blog Challenge Inspiration!

The 'Take A Stamp' challenge over at Craft Stamper is still still have nearly two whole weeks to enter! Our randomly drawn winner will win some fab goodies from PaperArtsy, so it's well worth getting your stamps out and giving it a go! All the details are HERE !
Over on the blog today, the DT are sharing some more eye candy, and I've joined in for once lol!
My contribution...
A little step by step to show you my process....
First, I created a background. Smeared paint, stencilling and stamping..
The colours may be different, but the process is identical to the project I showed you in this video...

Once I had my background completed, I created my figure! I added washi tape so I knew where my figure would stand, then I sketched her in....
Those parts of the figure that would be white, or pale, were then given a coat of gesso...
I re-sketched the face in pencil...
Then coloured it using Polychromos pencils...
Hair next. I used acrylic ink ink a waterbrush....
Her dress was also coloured with Polychromos, using the same shades as the background
For a finishing touch, I added in detail with a very fine pitt pen...
The words are a very old stamp, probably my most favourite stamp ever! I've looked, and I don't think they make it any it's even more of a treasure! I stamped onto tissue, then added it to the background with Mod Podge. A layer both under and over the tissue...
Once dry, you can't see the glue......
So... loads of painty layers......
and lots of lovely stamping...JUST the thing for a Craft Stamper Challenge!

I would love to see your stamping creations, so go on, join in with Craft Stamper this month!

Craft Stamper Blog Challenge: March!

The new challenge for March over at Craft Stamper is a great one... as its a  'take a stamp' month, that means anything goes! (as long as there is stamping involved, obviously!) So let loose your creativity and get stamping...we want to see those creations!
My contribution is this panel...
